An expanding phenomenon. The 2nd edition of HaBaWaBa North America, held at Parc Jean Drapeau in Montreal (Canada) from July 6th to 12th, confirmed the success of HaBaWaBa format and it scored another goal for development of waterpolo all over the world.
We had great numbers for the event organized by DJ Global Wave, thanks to the agreement with Waterpolo Development. HaBaWaBa North America 2016 was attended by 29 teams and more than 700 people.
Those are the real numbers of HaBaWaBa North America 2016:
- 136 games played total over 4 days (84 in 13U category and 52 in 11U category)
- 307 athletes
- 47 coaches
- 10 referees
- 3 fields of play
- 4 countries represented (Canada, USA, Hungary, Barbados)
In 11U tournament we had an all Canadian podium: Tiburon Blue won the competition, Taiga got the second place and Scarbourough Shadow the third one. 13U tournament was won by Hungarian Debrecen, Canadian Tiburon Blue and US Greenwich Aquatics White got the podium. HaBaWaBa North America will be remembered also for the amazing shows that have open and closed the event, beside the participation of a lot of Canadian Olympians: they came to meet and speak with the little HaBaWaBa players.
